Python история_успеха beware of changed python Popen defaults
From the python subprocess documentation:
Changed in version 3.3.1: bufsize now defaults to -1 to enable buffering by default to match the behavior that most code expects. In versions prior to Python 3.2.4 and 3.3.1 it incorrectly defaulted to 0 which was unbuffered and allowed short reads.
So it was unintentional it seems that the previous documentation clearly documented the default to be 0 and the implementation matching the documentation.ℹ blog.brlink.eu

Linux Kate KDE история_успеха Вот так вот вставишь в пустую HTML страницу в Kate 200 кило символов в одну строку и всё, можно вспоминать SIGKILL. Ну, это, конечно, если ещё не вспоминать, что вообще-то там ограничение на длину строки ещё есть в нём, которое хоть и настраивается, но больше определённых значений вызывает только эпичные тормоза.

И, вроде, хороший редактор, а с этой хренью так ничего и не сделали до сих пор :}

Собственно, мне то такие длинные строки не нужны, но Firefox, копирующий текстовое представление ветки DOM, считает иначе %)

slashdot.org Windows история_успеха An interesting bug regarding update dependency calculation has been found in Windows XP. By design, machines using Windows Update retrieve patch information from Microsoft's update servers (or possibly WSUS in a company setting). That patch information contains information about each patch: what software it applies to and, critically, what historic patch or patches the current patch supersedes. Unfortunately, the Windows Update client components used an algorithm with exponential scaling when processing these lists. Each additional superseded patch would double the time taken to process the list. With the operating system now very old, those lists have grown long, sometimes to 40 or more items. On a new machine, that processing appeared to be almost instantaneous. It is now very slow. After starting the system, svchost.exe is chewing up the entire processor, sometimes for an hour or more at a time. Wait long enough after booting and the machine will eventually return to normalcy.

С осени этого года русские геймеры начали замечать неприятную тенденцию — часть европейских релизов стали обходить Россию. Началось все с переиздания JRPG с PS3 на PSVita — Atelier Meruru Plus. Особого значения этому случаю не придали, так как задержка с релизами в России, тем более японских игр, не редкость. В конце сентября должен был состояться релиз обновленного файтинга от Tecmo — Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. Игра подозрительно долго не появлялась в продаже. В итоге, в цифровом виде в России она так и не вышла, ни для PS3, ни для Xbox 360, немногие счастливчики нашли диски с игрой в некоторых магазинах. Та же участь постигла свежую Disgaea D2.
Пользователи PlayStation долго строили предположения (основное – новая русская цензура) и пытались выйти на связь с представителями Sony и издателями. Модераторы PS Blog упорно игнорировали разгневанные комментарии, а русское представительство Sony пожало плечами и предложило обратиться к разработчикам данных игр. В итоге удалось получить ответ от представителей NIS America, которые ответственны за издание в Европе множества японских проектов, как сторонних японских студий, так и своих, среди них — серия Disgaea и Dragon’s Crown. Ответ превзошел худшие ожидания: «Данные игры (Disgaea D2 и Dragon’s Crown) недоступны в настоящее время в России по причине появления новой Русской системы рейтингов вразрез PEGI. Таким образом, чтобы осуществить релиз, мы должны отправить игру на русскую экспертизу за отдельную плату. Сейчас мы решаем вопрос рентабельности затраты времени и денег и не можем определенно сказать, состоится релиз для России или нет».

Adobe история_успеха "Adobe Systems Inc. is expected to announce today that hackers broke into its network and stole source code for an as-yet undetermined number of software titles, including its ColdFusion Web application platform, and possibly its Acrobat family of products. The company said hackers also accessed nearly three million customer credit card records, and stole login data for an undetermined number of Adobe user accounts."

Tumblr yahoo история_успеха Following close on the heels of Instagram's advertising announcement last week, Tumblr has signed an agreement with analytics firm DataSift to provide info to advertisers on user behavior. According to Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, who oversaw the recent $1.1 billion purchase of Tumblr, advertising on the site will become increasingly prevalent throughout 2014.

Microsoft история_успеха Nokia Microsoft Corporation and Nokia Corporation today announced that the Boards of Directors for both companies have decided to enter into a transaction whereby Microsoft will purchase substantially all of Nokia's Devices & Services business, license Nokia's patents, and license and use Nokia's mapping services. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will pay EUR 3.79 billion to purchase substantially all of Nokia's Devices & Services business, and EUR 1.65 billion to license Nokia's patents, for a total transaction price of EUR 5.44 billion in cash. Microsoft will draw upon its overseas cash resources to fund the transaction. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to approval by Nokia's shareholders, regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
And, yep, Elop is part of the deal (quoting Ballmer): "Stephen Elop will be coming back to Microsoft, and he will lead an expanded Devices team, which includes all of our current Devices and Studios work and most of the teams coming over from Nokia, reporting to me."

After being called 'insane,' he responded with 'Oh yeah, I'm real messed up in the head, I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts.' Below that, he wrote 'lol' and 'jk.' He was arrested March 27, 2013 and has been in jail since that time. A hearing to review his case is scheduled for July 1, 2013.

Adobe история_успеха According to CNET and various other sources, CS6 will be the last version of Adobe's Creative Suite that will be sold in the traditional manner. All future versions will be available by subscription only, through Adobe's so-called 'Creative Cloud' service. This means that before too long, anyone who wants an up-to-date version of Photoshop won't be able to buy it – they will have to pay $50 per month (minimum subscription term: one year).
